1. What is an RSS feed?
RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’ and automatically informs you when web pages are modified.
To subscribe to RSS “feeds” you need to use a “feed reader”, which is software that checks for new content, such as recently added articles. Feed readers are built into internet browsers and email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook 2007.
2. How can I tell if a website has an RSS feed?
The orange RSS feed icon will appear in the right hand corner of your internet browser.

3. Why subscribe to an RSS feed?
Subscribing to an RSS feed ensures that you receive news as soon as it is published, without having to revisit websites.
4. How can I subscribe to a feed?
If using your internet browser to store the feed, click on the RSS icon and then select ‘Subscribe to this feed’.
If using a “feed reader”, click on the RSS icon and copy the address in the address bar. Choose to add a new feed to your “feed reader” and paste the address.
To add a feed in Microsoft Outlook 2007, right click on ‘RSS Feeds’ folder and select ‘Add a New RSS Feed’, then paste the address. More details can be found here.
5. How can I view my RSS feeds?
RSS feeds can be viewed in an internet browser by clicking on the star icon and select ‘Feeds’, or open the ‘RSS Feeds’ folder in Microsoft Outlook.
6. Does an RSS feed cost money to subscribe to?
No, Vantis’ feeds are provided free of charge.
7. What kind of internet connection do I need?
The news feed will work with any internet connection, although faster connections will reduce the time taken to view each article.
