Professional Negligence

We can provide assessments of quantum in relation to all professions together with views on culpability and liability where the negligence involves accounts, prospectus and rights issues, Financial Advisers (FA's) or Independent Financial Advisers (IFA's).

We are frequently asked to provide a measurement of appropriate loss suffered in actions against professionals and can give expert opinion on actions of accountants.

Recent cases include:

  • Acting as single joint expert in a dispute between solicitors and a firm of insurance brokers and in another case solicitors and motor dealers. Both cases involving claims for loss of business due to incorrect drawing up of agreements.

  • Acting for a group of institutional and private shareholders of Resort Hotels Plc in a claim against a Big 4 firm of accountants and the merchant bank in connection with the rights issue prospectus and the work undertaken.
