Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence

The Forensic Accounting team at Vantis is experienced in dealing with personal injury, clinical negligence and fatal accident claims, working with both Claimants and Defendants.

We can act as advisers, single party or joint experts and are able to advise and report on damages for loss of earnings, pensions and other benefits.

We will clearly identify and focus on the key financial issues and apply our experience cost effectively to assess the losses.  The financial losses in these claims can be subjective in their nature and, where there are a number of possible outcomes, we will provide you with a range of calculations supported by a clear explanatory rationale to reflect those outcomes.

Our findings and conclusions are presented in a clear and comprehensive manner in order to facilitate and assist settlement between the parties.  All members of the team have a detailed understanding of the present Court regime and knowledge of Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules.

Where relevant to a particular case, we can draw upon the sector specific experience of our industry groups within Vantis.  Through our membership of the HLB International network, we are also able to deal with claims with an international aspect, calling upon 11,600 staff in over 100 countries.

Our approach to instructions is to provide you with our initial opinion (including an assessment of whether a forensic accountant is required in the case), together with a proposed fee quotation and a list of the further documentation that we would require to assess the losses.

Cases recently undertaken by the team include:

  • Instructed by the Claimant, a self-employed used car wholesaler, to calculate his loss of earnings arising from a road traffic accident

  •  Instructed by the Defendant to consider the loss of income and benefits arising to a former employee following his diagnosis with a work sustained disease

  • Instructed by the Defendant to consider the loss of income claimed to have arisen to a self-employed taxi driver following a road traffic accident with a military vehicle
