Our Construction Group will always try to help you resolve any business issues you may have. The examples below are just some of the ways we have helped our construction clients...
Example 1:
An Italian based bridge building company was working on the Docklands Light Railway Extension and required approval from HMRC to carry out CIS work in the UK through a CIS5 certificate. We successfully submitted an application and dealt with a subsequent HMRC enquiry into the operations of the company.
Example 2:
A major construction company in Canada wanted to establish operations in the UK. We were able to set up the most appropriate 'vehicle' for its operations in the UK, as well as the application and renewal of CIS obligations from the Canadian company and the UK company.
Example 3:
A Danish company won a contract to carry out construction work in the UK. A condition of the contract was that the Danish company would have to have CIS 5 status in the UK. We prepared and submitted the successful application in a very short period of time, thereby enabling the company to carry out the work in the UK.
Example 4:
A company is renovating a large family residence in the UK and has run into some problems regarding its CIS compliance in terms of vouchers and annual returns. The company requested our assistance and we brought the outstanding issues up to date and put a process in place to make the monthly compliance obligations easier to manage going forward.
Example 5:
A scaffolding company recieved a PAYE compliance visit from the Revenue and after looking at the records and working relationships, claimed that all the self employed freelance workers used by the company were actually employees. This gave rise to a substantial 6 figure liability. We were appointed to show that these workers were not employees, but were correctly treated as self employed. After corresponding and challenging the Revenue, they agreed that our interpretation of the working relationship was correct and the workers were indeed self employed.
Example 6
