Vantis, the AIM listed business advisory group has appointed David Bowes as Head of the Business Valuations Services division.
David will be based within Vantis Tax Ltd, a subsidiary of Vantis plc, and has joined the group in order to develop the existing business valuation practice within it. In addition to the extensive tax work already carried out within Vantis, David will be developing the commercial valuation side of the business, having also acted as a single joint expert, and expert witness in court in tax, divorce, criminal and dispute cases. He will also be strengthening the firm’s expertise in intellectual property valuations, including option pricing using Black Scholes and other models, and valuations for accounting purposes.
Following thirteen years spent with the Capital Taxes Office and the Shares Valuation Division, David moved into the private sector where he has worked in senior roles for some of the world’s leading Accountancy firms, including one of the big four. David has extensive experience of dealing with valuations for all types and sizes of companies. He specialises in both fiscal and commercial valuations, for a wide range of purposes including tax and tax planning, litigation, shareholder disputes, fund raising and sales.
David has also been involved in presenting numerous seminars to professionals and intermediaries. He has also made contributions to national newspapers and other publications on valuation matters, together with BBC local radio. He is the author of two LexisNexis Accounting Digests on the subject of Share Valuation, and a contributor to the Valuation Section of the Chiltern Tax Guide.
He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, a Council member of the Society of Share and Business Valuers, a member of the Expert Witness Institute, a practising member of the Academy of Experts, and the CIOT representative on the Inland Revenue Shares Valuation Fiscal Forum.
