Unoco Group, the Nottingham based education and skills provider, was placed in administration on 2nd December 2008 with the loss of 70 jobs. Beverley Marsh, Client Partner at Vantis Business Recovery Services (BRS), a division of Vantis, the UK accounting, tax and business advisory group, has been appointed on the administration.

Vantis BRS is now working with the Unoco Group management team to ensure students receive ongoing support to minimise disruption to courses, and to quickly process redundancy claims.

Commenting on the administration, Beverley Marsh said: “The Unoco Group has been providing an excellent service in the Nottingham community, but sadly late payers and issues in the construction sector have forced the company into insolvency. Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to re-finance the business and so it will sadly cease trading.”

Unoco Group Director, Ted Stanley, added: “We deeply regret having to make redundancies, but unfortunately we were left with no alternative other than to close the business down. Our priorities now are to manage these redundancies efficiently and respectfully and to limit the amount of disruption caused to students following our courses. To that end we are working closely with the Vantis BRS team to provide continuing support for students, process claims for staff quickly and assist them in finding alternative employment.”
