The Chancellor of the Exchequer presented his Report to Parliament today.
Giving what he described as his latest report, but which is widely expected to be his last, Gordon Brown provided an optimistic assessment of the state of the economy. Amid a welter of figures and comparisons with the previous government and the economies of Britain’s major competitors, he put education and the environment at the heart of the political agenda.
