Vantis Business Recovery Services (BRS), a division of Vantis, the UK accounting, tax and business advisory group, has appointed Chris Stirland as Associate Director to head its new corporate recovery operation in Leicester. Stirland was previously with Smith Cooper as Director, responsible for commencing its Nottingham Corporate Recovery Department in 2007 and Deloitte for six years, most recently as a Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB) qualified manager.
Commenting on the move, Stirland said: “I was looking to join a national firm engaged with bank panel work, but with a local, relationship-driven business model. Vantis BRS combines the ethos and more empathetic approach of a community practice, with the scale and expertise of a national firm.”
Vantis BRS has traditionally concentrated its presence in London and throughout the South East. However, the change in economic circumstances has prompted the division to increase its national footprint to cope with the rising demand for its services. Stirland continues: “The whole of the UK is suffering as a result of the economic downturn, and we have certainly seen a jump in the demand for corporate recovery advice.
“What is important is that business owners recognise the advantage to be gained from seeking advice as early as possible. It is tempting to wait for things to improve, and they certainly will, but we have a tough time ahead and managers should be taking action sooner rather than later to be in the best position to survive the recession.”
Jeremy French, Managing Director of Vantis BRS, adds: “Chris is an excellent addition to our team, with extensive experience in corporate recovery across a broad range of sectors from construction and textiles, to printing and manufacturing.
“We also believe in building a solid local presence and cultivating relationships with the regional business community. Having spent the duration of his career in the East Midlands, Chris is ideally placed to head our East Midlands/Leicester operation. He understands the challenges facing local businesses and has already developed a strong intermediary network.”
