Zero Carbon Homes

 Breakfast Time Event logo

The Chancellor has announced that from 1 October 2007 all new homes meeting the zero carbon standard which cost up to £500,000 will be exempt from stamp duty and houses over £500,000 which meet the standard will pay stamp duty of £15,000.

By doing this, the Government hopes that more people will be encouraged to buy zero carbon homes and the market for energy efficient homes will be kick started. Some grants will be available for the installation of insulation and efficient central heating systems, although these will be limited to pensioners.
