Don Mavin is Head of our Tax Disputes & Litigation Team. Don spent his earlier years as a senior Customs fraud investigator within HM Customs & Excise’ National Investigation Service before joining the tax profession as a consultant some 20 years ago.
Don is recognised as a leading expert in Customs & Excise fraud investigations and related litigation, and has been instructed on behalf of the defence in numerous large-scale VAT and excise diversion fraud prosecutions. He has also been instructed in High Court proceedings involving customs duty matters, and by insurers and solicitors to challenge marine transit claims by Customs involving duty suspended goods.
Don is a Member of the Academy of Experts, a Founding Member of the Expert Witness Institute and a contributor on Customs fraud investigations to Butterworths’ “Fraud: Law, Practice and Procedure”.
